Shared Responsibilty (March 14th. 2011)

Someone just said 'Hiroshima' was caused by Man as an act of war and that the Japan Tsunami/Earthquake was an act of God….What a simplistic comparison!

We cause changes; sometimes small and lately, sometimes large, to our Environment.

There is no doubt that the Environment causes changes to ‘Us’. We are part of ‘It’ and; ‘It’ is part of 'Us'. We can choose where we build our cities; whether it be on the low lying sea shore or halfway up a mountain...and so doing, we must take the consequences of our actions. The choices we make can have extremely serious outcomes. For example, building several nuclear facilities right next to the ocean in an earthquake prone area, may not be the best decision.

There are many people in the world who should stop isolating themselves and take the responsibility to be part of the whole?

Climate change affects ocean currents, sea temperatures and salinity. So, even though small in impact, these can have an influence on the timing and specific nature of techtonic plate movement. Everything is linked. It has even been said that one butterfly flapping its wings can change our world weather patterns.

Frankly, I am tired of this God/Man separation thing. We should realise that we must share the responsibility for Wars, Famine, Earthquakes and all manner of Disasters with God.

I am sure He/She will do the same with us, very soon. Anyway, many say "God" is an invention of Man and I agree!

However, we must hope that the whole world shares in sympathy for all those who have been adversly affected by this terrible disaster.
