Excuse me sir, I'm just an 'umble servant of my Country. We don't 'ave any right to question what our leaders do, I'm sure.
Our "betters" say that, for the good of us all, we should shut up and stop complaining about anything we read in the papers about bad things that are done to people; even if we think its wrong.
They know what's right, don't they?.... so we should not get out of our "proper station".
I've got my 'umble life to lead, I'm sure; and I don't want no trouble.
They should stop them squawkers at the airports; take away their passports and black-list 'em for any future travel. And better still, they should put 'em in a nasty jail for the rest of their lives...change the law to do it if they 'as to.
Let our "betters" look after us, I'm sure; that's my ever so 'umble opinion.
An' anuver thing; look at them foreigners in the middle east! There's people runnin' around protestin' against their "betters" usin' the excuse that they wants "Freedom". Well their "betters" are teachin 'em a lesson, eh? Anyway America wants to keep their boats in one Arab country which has been run with an iron fist for years; and Israel don't want any of their "next-doors" messin around over their 'edges, do they?
Some people say that, if they don't watch out, Iran will 'ave a go and then we'll all be in a pickle too. Crush all of them yobs, I say; in my 'umble opinion.
U. H.

Whatever any of us may think about the above, somewhat "dark" satirical approach, the bottom line is 'balance'. Unfortunately major powers in the world are, and have been, mainipulating the countries in question; sometimes subtly and sometimes much more obviously. We may sit back in our armchairs and talk about morality or fairness but the reality refers to economics, availability of energy resources and the maintenance of necessary optimum stability. Those countries, dependent on oil and efficient transportation routes, will do, without scruple, whatever they can to fulfil their needs. Often the innocent get tragically caught in the process. Ironically, dictatorships may be favoured for stabilty over changing democratic regimes...But,.'despotism' rarely goes hand-in-hand with 'benevolence'.
The world climate is changing, food prices are fluctuating and the youth of the middle-east countries is expressing itself more and more. Information technology is becoming much more sophisticated and there is a lot more unrest as a result. Religious ideologies are increasingly clashing toward a dangerous threshold; so great care and diplomacy is paramount. Let us all hope for a way out of this mess.
LET US ALL HOPE THAT THESE DESPOTIC REGIMES ARE REPLACED WITH STABLE AND HUMANE DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (My view).
